This parody made me laugh! Thank you for that on a Monday morning. This is one of the first poems I memorized because Poe is oh-so-memorizable and yes, somehow it works even though when you break down all of Poe's tricks it seems like it shouldn't.
Your right! It shouldn't work, but the sound of the verse with the images that seem to mirror the coming and going of the sea, make it work.
