Yes, Happy 4th! Thank you for reminding us! This region (with the North Bridge, Emerson's home and Lexington and Concord's historical museums) is such a great area to visit also for the next generation(s) of poetry lovers and potential American poets..

That bridge is less than a hundred yards from Emerson's grandfather's house... a house later remembered as Hawthorne's "Old Manse." Hawthorne and his new wife lived there, and Thoreau planted a vegetable garden for them, out front, as a wedding present.

Emerson's grandfather watched the battle from his backyard in 1775.
